The Measure of a Man

Exodus 14:1-31

“And Moses said to the people,” Do not be afraid, Stand still, and see the salvation of the Lord, which he will accomplish for you today. For the Egyptians whom you see today, you shall see again no more forever.”                                                             Vr.16 “The Lord will fight for you, and you shall hold your peace.”

Wow! What verses, awesome! What does it take to be a measure of a man?

Junior watched his dad finish a heavy meal and then loosened his belt.

“Look mom,” He said. “Pop just moved his decimal point over two places.”

I believe friend, that is not a measure of a man.Ha!

The measure of a man according to the scriptures, that is facing difficult decisions, he does not falter and fear but is bold in their faith which produces positive, life changing activity.

In these passages Moses faces the difficulty in leading God’s people in crossing the Red Sea with the Egyptian armies bearing done on them.

What did he do? He had faith in God and he said:

1.       Do not be afraid.

2.       Standstill-     wait

3.       See the salvation of the Lord.-  watch

4.       The Lord will fight for you. The battle is the Lord’s

That is the measure of the man in the midst of difficulties He is a man of faith, courage, conviction and action.

He did not falter, nor run from the battles of life. He faced it with confidence because he trusted in the Lord Jesus Christ.

God delivered them from the Egyptians in the following verses.

              A Dare

Dare to be right! Dare to be true!

You have work that no other can do;

Do it so bravely, so kindly, so well,

Angels will hasten the story to tell

Dare to be right, dare to be true!

The fallings of others can never save you;

Stand by your conscience, your honor, your faith,

Stand like a hero, and battle till death!

Mrs. EJ Daniels –Poems of Comfort and Cheer

Dear friends ,the measure of a man when he/she facing life battles, is not measured by what he does in his/her flesh but what he/she does in the Spirit of God, not trusting in his fame and fortune but faith and trust  and hope in Jesus Christ!

Come to Jesus today! He will be with you no matter what you are facing today!

Love,

Eddie

             Captain Coward or Captain Courageous?

Now thanks are unto God, which always caused us to triumph in Christ

                                          2 Cor.2:14

This week, January 16th two thousand and twelve, we saw and read about the captain who abandoned the Carnival Cruise Ship, near Italy. He left thousands stranded and dying. Some say he lacked courage in the face of difficult situation.

Have you ever faced these situations? Where you feel that you are up a wall and fear grips you! What am I going to do?

Many times I have felt this way, but what pulls me through the tough decisions?

Whether it be losing a job, health family, friends, loss of mate though death, divorce or some form of disability. May even be a stand for Christ and you face intense persecution.

I remember a time in the ministry at my second church, in central Florida. It was a small country church, in a rural part of the State; the church always had a difficult time in keeping preachers. While I was ministering there, God was richly blessing and many people were getting saved. Then the unthinkable happened! One dark, cold night I had a visitor. His father in law was one of the deacons of the church.

He knocked on the door. He was thin, short, and a good looking young man and he was about in his twenties.

He came in and I noticed he was carrying a pistol.

My wife and my two year old son huddle next to me.

“Why are you carrying the pistol?” I said.

He responded in an excited voice,” To protect you and your family, because tonight you are going to have a visitation!”

I said, “What and why a visitation? And why are they coming for us?”

“Pastor, you preached about loving and embracing all people from every race and you are willing to allow them to come into our church, especially black folks, and they are dead set against it.”

“Well, I do not want any guns in my home and you go back and tell whoever, that they can come, but if God wants us dead so  be it but if not, God will protect us and they are the ones who will be harmed!”

“My family and I are returning to bed, so you can stay here, but God will protect us!”

The next morning we woke up and the young man was gone and we never heard a word again from him, or them. God provided for our safety!

I found out later when leaving the grocery country store that some of the deacons were the dreaded former Ku Klux Klan and they had strung up some black people years ago, they also were involved in tarring and feathering a preacher at the church and ran them out of town.

A few months later another church from Florida calls us and we left this demonic church!

God is so, he will never forsake us! Never abandon the ship! Be courageous!

Joshua 1:1-8

Verse 5-6 “No man shall be able to stand before you all the days of your life; as I was with Moses, so I will be with you. I will not leave you. Nor forsake you.”

”Be strong and of good courage…..”

Moses never abandoned God calling, or God’s people. Dr. Vance Havner said, “He saw the invisible and did the impossible.”

Dear friends, when the road we travel seems long, rough and tough, and the days and weeks go on and on with no answers. Remember, He will come through in His time!  Don’t abandon the ship, be faithful. He will always be there. He will see you through these difficult days. God will provide a way! He will see you through!

God came through for me in time and He will come through for you!

Oh! It never ends. One victory leads to another long road. It’s God way of reminding us to always trust Him!

In Christ never ending love,

Eddie

Overcoming The Eyes Of Fear!

    Overcoming the Eyes of Fear

Exodus 14:13-31

“And Moses said to the people’” Do not be afraid. Stand still, and see the salvation of the Lord…

Yesterday, the air was a cool and crisp and the skies were deep blue. I drove up to a gas station and as I was about to put some gas in my car, a young, tall skinny lady came up to me with a baby on her hip. She said to me,” Sir, I have no gas money can you help me!”

There was a look of sadness and fear in her eyes.

A deep sadness became over me and I was filled with compassion  and tears just whelmed up ,I said,” Sure” and I reached in and gave her nine dollars.

“Thank you so much!” She replied and went into the gas station. There are so many families today, because of the bad economy that are losing their jobs and becoming homeless!

My encouragement to them comes from these scriptures passages, The Israelites and Moses were on the run from the Egyptians armies, they came to the edge of the Red Sea and they became fearfull   and angry at Moses. Why? I believe they humanly saw no way out! They saw the enemy and lost their faith.

Moses, whom had faith in God, spoke words of encouragement.

First he said don’t be afraid, and then he said standstill and see the salvation of the Lord. He struck the rock and the waters parted and you know the rest of the story!

The scripture states also Hebrews 11:29 “By faith they passed through the Red Sea as by dry land, whereas the Egyptians, attempting to do so drowned.”

What is the difference? One saw and trusted in God, the other saw and trusted in their flesh!

Dear friends, are you today, facing walls and walls of opposition, trials. Do not look at them with the eyes of fear but with the eyes of faith unto the Lord thy God!

I face every day all sort of fears, but when they begin to get the better of me it’s because I have taken my eyes off Jesus. How do I know? I begin speaking words of fear and my family tells me because I have  become a complainer!

Thanks be to God, whom when I cry out, “Oh! God forgive me! “He lifts me up, dust me and on my way I go.

I "I know the way sometimes seems rough

       Hearts seem hard and bare

but I walked with God this morning

   And it’s warm in there."

                          E J Morgan

God loves you, so today turn your eyes on Him, be not afraid, standstill and see the salvation of the Lord!

Lo Love,

E Eddie

How to Deal with life Uncertanties and Fear!

Dealing with Uncertainties and Fear

Exodus 13

Life is full of uncertainties! How to we not let life uncertainties paralysis us by fear?

This week a young twelve year old girl in California passed away due to cancer. Jessica motto," Never Give Up."  Jessica, refused to be paralysis by fear! She refused to give up. Her name, Jessica Joy Rees, the article was written on January 6,2012 in the ap, "12 year old girl who blogged cancer fight died ."

In Exodus chapter 14, we saw Israel crossing the Red Sea, with walls of water on either side of them and the Egyptian Army in hot pursuit!
Moses and the Isrealis never gave up! Why? I believe they kept there vision and faith in God!

Proverbs 29:14: where there is no vision the people perish.

Joviath Swift stated,” Vision is the art of seeing the invisible.”

Hebrews 11:1 states, a vision is the ability, to see which are not, as becoming a reality.

The Joshua and Caleb Principle:

God is greater than circumstances. Numbers 13:30

Dear Friends, I know personally the struggles of the unknown! Right now as I write this article, I am facing many uncertainties such as my wife illness with M.S, my teaching position, the ministry and many more, but I have to stay the course, never give up, I must keep Christ in front and keep on trusting in God!

The vision must and will continue, never let fear rule your life!

Keep on trusting God no matter what and he will see you through! Tim Tebow, the Denver  Broncos quaterback ,never gave in to his doubters and critics, he trusted in God and used his God given ablilites to defeat the Pittsburg Steelers in today divison playoffs.

Keep on!

Love,

 Eddie

How can we face the New Year filled with so much uncertainties?

Dealing with Life Uncertainties!

The focal passages Exodus 14

Dealing with life uncertainties such as the election of a president, jobs, and schools health issues, families conflicts, wars, losing loved ones and the list can go on and on and on…..

This week as the Denver Broncos lost two games in a row, I heard sports commentators stating that Tim Tebow is now facing his uncertainties, his inabilities and it is rattling him.

So, Tim and so many others do not lose faith. How can we deal with all of these crazy life situations?

In the book of Exodus chapter 14 we will see Moses and the children of Israel leaving Egypt in a hurry to escape Pharaoh and to begin a new life in the promise land.

Wait! Before moving on they had to cross the Red Sea, The Red Sea? Yes, the red Sea but how? With Pharaoh and his vast armies breathing down there back, guess what feelings and emotions sprung up, fear, and doubt!

Have this ever happened to you? I have to admit that at times these same things spring up at me.

What do these passages shed light? They shed light on fear and doubt which can paralysis us.

How did the fear paralysis them?

Verse 10 they lifted up their eyes and lost their vision because they saw the enemy coming in full force!

Faith and a can do attitude begins with a vision.

Proverbs 29:14,”Where there is no vision the people perish.”

Dear friends we will continue to explore more on this topic but remember God loves you! Do not lose your vision; keep your eyes on Jesus!

Love,

Eddie
