Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. quote on Jamaica (Today is his birthday ) – “Here you have people from many national backgrounds: Chinese, Indians, so-called Negroes, and you can just go down the line, Europeans, European and people from many, many nations. Do you know they all live there and they have a motto in Jamaica, “Out of many people, one people.” And they say, “Here in Jamaica we are not Chinese, (Make it plain) we are not Japanese, we are not Indians, we are not Negroes, we are not Englishmen, we are not Canadians. But we are all one big family of Jamaicans.” One day, here in America, I hope that we will see this and we will become one big family of Americans.”- From the book “A Knock at Midnight: Inspiration from the Great Sermons of Reverend Martin Luther King, Jr.”
Dear friends,
May we wish that here in our country we can be one in the Spirit of God!We are all bought by the blood of Jesus! I believe we can alll come togther in Christ love.
Ocho Rios-based developer and hotelier Ernest Smatt is no stranger to hosting celebs. Brash, bold and quite the smooth talker, it's hardly surprising that Smatt's inviting personality endeared him to Hollywood A-listers and political figures, such as the late civil rights icon Martin Luther King Jr. Smatt was recently reminded of his decades-old friendship with King Jr in mid-July of this year when he was sent a photograph taken circa mid-1960s at the former Arawak Hotel in Ocho Rios. The black-and-white image shot by Lloyd Tenn shows a handsome, naturally much-younger Smatt candidly captured in conversation with the vacationing activist, and then Arawak Hotel manager Don Bardowell. Naturally Smatt was pleasantly surprised when he received the photo, and happily took an impromptu trip down memory lane with SO. "Martin was a good friend," Smatt shared. "We met because he loved to go deep-sea fishing and someone told him I had a boat. From that point, our friendship took root."

"He was a cool guy," Smatt said of the legendary African American, whose I Have A Dream speech is still frequently quoted 43 years after his assassination. "We got along well together." Smatt revealed that King Jr fell in love with Jamaica and would visit regularly. "He loved the climate and he came here because he made a friend," the hotelier reflected, adding that King Jr was a personal houseguest on several occasions. "He was fiercely intelligent and well spoken ... people like Martin and other important people are cautious about who they allow to get close to them, and I think he found me trustworthy and genuine so he felt comfortable with me," he explained. Smatt paused with a sense of remorse made almost anew as he remembered that King Jr dined with him at his home in Mammee Bay, St Ann, a mere 10 days before he was killed on the balcony of his room at the Lorraine Motel in Tennessee. "He was truly a great man and I'm honoured to have shared his company and to have called him a friend," he noted.
Smatt's celeb association was by no means only limited to King Jr. SO also discovered that Smatt, who once called Beverly Hills, California, home for a stretch, entertained the late screen legend Elizabeth Taylor and hubby #4 Eddie Fisher at his home whenever they visited The Rock back in the 1960s. "They were great fun," he said of the couple. "When they would come, they enjoyed going to the Cove Theatre to watch cowboy movies. I would sneak them in and we'd sit on the balcony. They loved the reaction of Jamaicans as they watched the films."
Dear friends, after reading this article about my cousin Ernie Smatt ,and Martin Luther King, it brings back sweet vivid memories about living in Jamaica during these times .I felt the love and oness of my fellow Jamaicans. Living here in America, I cannot help but think what it would be if we all had that same spirit of being one . I believe it can be possible through the precious blood of Jesus . I beleive also that only Jesus can bring people together.I further believe that this can only be accomplished by inviting Jesus into our hearts and living daily in Christlikness! Here is a prayer that I prayed many years ago ,"Dear Lord Jesus, please come into my heart and forgive my sin!' I believe that the onesness is not through money, fame , fortune, education, religion ,or politics but through the shed blood of Jesus!!
I believe that America needs Jesus, and I also believe that America needs a revival. I believe that we will either fall, or rise as a Nation!!!John 3:16
God Bless and lots of love , Eddie and Donna Smatt
Text: Proverbs 16:7 “When
a man‘s ways please the Lord, he maketh even his enemies to be at peace with
him.”
This week for me was a difficult as I made a
stand for what is right. God opened the door for me. God presence, provision
and protection were very real to me.
One
day I will share what took place this week but in the mean time we need to continue
to be vigilant in prayer.
The
World needs Men … [and women]
Who cannot be bought;
Whose word is their bond;
Who put character above wealth;
Who possess opinions and a will;
Who are larger than their vocations;
Who do not hesitate to take chances;
Who will not lose their individuality in a crowd;
Who will be honest in small things as in great things;
Who will make no compromise with wrong;
Whose ambitions are not confined to their own selfish desires;
Who will not say they do it ‘because everybody else does it;
Who are true to their friends through good report and evil
report, in adversity as well as prosperity;
Who don’t believe that shrewdness, cunning, and hardheadedness are
the best qualities for winning success;
Who are not ashamed to stand for truth when it is unpopular;
Who can say “no “with emphasis, although the entire world say
yes.
Dear friends, I pray that
you will join with me today, to stand and do what is right no matter the cost!
Pray for me! There is a certain situation,that I facing in doing the right thing! Pray for me, my family and students . Pray for me to have God's wisdom and protection!!!

How can we have Victories over the Heartaches
Cliffs?
2 Kings 5:1, 13-14
“Now Naaman, captain of the
host of the King of Syrian, was a great man with his master, and honorable,
because by him the Lord had given deliverance unto Syria: he was a mighty man
in valor, but he was a Leper."
Many
people are talking about the headache cliffs of this coming year! What are
they? Maybe our finances, health, spiritual, emotional, or the uncertainty of
the future! Naaman faced a horrible future but ultimately he trusted in God to
meet this cliff.
Here is what I gleamed
from the scriptures that has given me encouragement.
A.
Naamam faced a horrible cliff which was being a leper. In those days this
terrible disease had no cure; it causes separation from loves ones, sores, pains
and death.
BNaaman faced this awe full cliff by faith in
God’s Word in spite of the unknown. In
these verses 8-14 we can gleam several steps to victory which are:
1. He resisted God’s plan which was to dip in
the dirty waters of Jordan to be healed.
2. He then became obedient to God’s word. He
showed it by his actions.
3. He was healed.
4. He
showed the world God’s awesome power.
Dear
friends, today many of us are facing difficult cliffs which are: spiritual,
physical, social, emotional. Many of us are facing financial changes, changes
in our jobs, and changes in our health which could lead to death.
God
loves you very much. He has not forgotten you! I believe just like Naaaman we
need to continue to trust in God and apply His Word to our life. I also believe
that no matter what happens we can truly state that my hope and faith is
standing on the solid rock.
‘“The Lord is my Rock, my Fortress and My
ROCK…..” 2 Samuel 22:23
God will always make a way!!!
Today as we face many uncertain cliffs let us
pray together,” Dear Lord Jesus no matter what life throw’s at us, no matter
what cliffs we face, we trust you in Jesus name to make a way for us. Thank you
Jesus for giving us your comfort, encouragement and strength in Jesus name, Amen!"
