On June 20th, 1965 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. visited Jamaica. He delivered the speech/ sermon at the University of the West Indies 1965 valedictory service

 

“There is neither Jew, nor Greek. There is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for we are all one in Christ.” Galatians 3:28

 

 

    I remember as a child growing up on the island of Kingston, Jamaica W.I.  I remember the sayings the land of wood and water. I also remember a land of many cultures, and many races.

 

  I remember going to church, parties and school with people of all walks of life.   

                                                     

 

                    I remember one hot summer day going on bus number seven to Mona and on the bus I came face to face with Mrs. King. I can never forget her sweet smile when she looked at me .I remember his speech concerning the challenges facing our future spoken at the UWI.

 

    Dear friends, we are all one through the blood of Jesus. I further believe we need to continue to reach out in love to each other, listen to each other and reject any form of racial hate!! We must be one as brothers and sisters or we will perish as a nation!!!

Putting a Stop to Sin Destructions

 

Acts 16:16-35

 

verse 18 "And this she did many days. But Paul being grieved ,turned and said to the spirit , I command thee in the name of Jesus  Christ to come out of her. And he came out the same hour ."

 

    How and must we put a stop to sin, its acts and experience sweet victory in Jesus? That is our subject for today!

 

  In these passages we see a woman posed with the spirit of divination, her  masters of power hungry, money grumping people and the apostles putting a stop to it and setting her free.

 

  Today we have the same problems of all kind of immoral sins, money, controlling power demonic activities! How can we put a stop to it?

 

1.       We need to body confront sin up and front. Verses 16-18

 

a.       Satan comes in sweet supposed flatteries verses 16-18

b.       Have a grieving spirit  the apostles dealt with the issus confronting them.

c.        In the name of Jesus the apostles cast them out!  Today we must preach the Word bodily and unashamed!!!!!! 

 

Dear friends we are confronting cultures that are corrupt! We must bold preach and stand for the truths as stated in God's Word! Our God has given us a commision and that is to preach the Gospel! Stand firm and see the salvation.

The Coming Storm?

 

 

“ But the ship was now in the midst in  of the sea, tossed with the waves: for the wind was  contrary.

And in the fourth watch of the night Je’-sus went unto them, walking on the sea.

And when the disciples saw him, they were troubled, saying it is a spirit; and they cried out in fear.

But straight way Je’-sus spake unto them, saying, Be of good cheer; it is I; be not afraid.” Matthew 14:24-27

 

 

      The storms are coming! The storms are coming! What storms are you saying, Eddie?

 

      The storms of war, famine, pestilence around the world and in our nation!

 

  “I can hear some say, “Eddie, man, you one crazy dude!”

“I say, “Yes sir! Just look around you here in our nation and the world. We see the killing of innocent people, food prices are through the roof….!

 

  You can smell the fear in the air and in the hearts of people everywhere!

 

   I believe there is hope though and that hope in Jesus!!! I believe that he is the shelter for the coming storms!!!

 

  The disciples were sleeping, winds were ferious and fear crept into their hearts until they heard his voice! This awesome voice gave them peace and shelter as they place their faith and trust in him!

 

    Dear friends as we face the coming storms, I believe that we must place our faith, our trust in him, Jesus the Son of the living God and he will see us through!

 

 Oh! dear friend come to Jesus today by saying this simple prayer,” Dear Lord Jesus, I am a sinner, please forgive me and come into my heart!!!!!!”
