The Retreat

Matthew 14:23

“He went up into a mountain apart to pray: and when the evening was come, he was there alone.”

Have you ever been to the mountains? Came away with a sense of awe! I have especially in a mountain called the “Blue Mountains” in Kingston, Jamaica W.I

This mountain so majestic, graceful and peaceful it  is a great place to have a retreat and encounter with God, a deep experience with God!

The church that I attended in Kingston, Jamaica W.I was Grace Missionary Church and they had a retreat deep in these mountains.

It was here, in the summer of the nineteen sixty nine, that I was radically changed!

I accepted Christ into my heart two years prior but I never lived for Jesus.

The theme was making Jesus the Lord of our lives. It was here in the cool, crisp mountain, that I made Jesus the Lord of my life. Galatians 2:20

The song of the retreat is "Happines is to know the Saviour."

Happines is to know the Saviour, living a life within his favor, having a change in my behavior.

Happines is the lord.

Happines is a new creation , Jesus and Me in close relation, having a change in my behavior

Happines is the lord.

Real joy is mine no matter if the tear drops I have found the secret it's Jesus in my heart.

Happines is to be forgiven, livin a life that worth the livin take a trip that leads to heaven.

Happines is the lord!

Dear friends,  are you happy today.Happines is not only to accept Jesus into your heart but also to allow Him to be the Lord of your life.

Notnow, Not Here!

Not now, Not Here!

Psalm 42:7

“All thy waves and bellows have gone over me.”

Have you ever been to the sea and you wade out into the water and the Hugh waves just go over you and you struggle to stand?

I have and at times it can be fun or a nuisance to maintain your balance.

Here in this passage the Psalmist states that God allows the waves in life to go over you, the conflicts and struggles.

Why? I believe it’s through the struggles of life that we trust him; it helps us to be stronger to deal with life conflicts and develops our character.

Dear friends, God loves us and he will never forsake us. So when the waves come, keep on keeping on! He will be there for us. It will help us to trust him more and it will develop our character

Eddie

Asking and Joy!

“Asking and Joy go hand in hand like a marriage, like a Horse and Carriage?”

John16:24 “Hitherto have ye asked anything in my name: ask and you shall receive .that your joy may be full.”

I remember a time way back then that I had a desire to find a Godly wife and who had a desire to share the ministry with me.

I had dated so many great young ladies but the glove did not fit,

So, I quit looking and I went to God asking Him for a Godly wife!

Well. No sooner that I gave up looking that God answered my prayers.

I went to my best friend’s house and there on his piano was a picture of the most beautiful lady that was ever on this planet. I ask him who is this girl and he aid my sister, Donna a born again, spirit filled lady!

My heart leaped for joy and you know the rest of the story. We have been married for 34 years and it still going strong!

Jesus said on this passage ask!

·     Ask in His name.

·     Ask

·     You shall receive

·     Why?

·     That your joy may be full.

Dear friends, whatever situation you are in today, God will supply all your needs for He loves you so very much,

He loves us so much that he gave uses His only begotten Son, Jesus. He died on the cross and rose again.

Just call on His name, repent and he will come into your heart today!

God loves you!

Love,

Eddie

Vision for the Mission

Vision for the Mission!

Exodus 3:1-3

Moses left Egypt (world) to go to the desert where he was found and made camp with Jethro.

While guarding the sheep he met God!

He saw the vision of God and that led to a mission from God!

Moses experienced: humility communion and companionship.

Moses in the future went on the mission but he had to develop these three essentials for it prepared him to go back into the world and to face the hostilities of the world

As we travel in this world let us as Christians met God and develop these essential which are: humility, communion and campership with God?

To The Least

Encouragement to the Least

Proverbs 11:25 “The liberal soul shall be made fat, and he that watered also himself.”

The bible teaches that as we freely give we will increase and be successful in our lives.

I heard a story about a poor Christian woman who was told of another Christian woman who was in great need of a warm coat.

“I can give her mine she possibly need it more than I do. I can do without it. First I want to wash it and mend it before I can give it to her.’

It was prepared with loving care. In one of the pockets were tucked in a fifty cent piece and in the other a booklet of promises from God’s word. As she gave the coat to a friend to deliver, she said,

“As it’s for of His least of these I wanted it to be as nice as I could afford to make it.”

Dear friends with so many diplaced people today let us continue to be givers.”

Eddie

A friend in Deed is a Friend in Need!

A Friend in deed is a friend in Need?

Acts 9:21-27

…but Barnabas took him, and brought him to the disciples….

Paul was converted but the disciples still feared him.  Barnabas saw his need and befriended him!

·    Paul was at Stephen stoning

·    He attacked the church in Acts 9

·    Paul met Jesus Acts 9

·    Paul was a changed man but he still carried baggage’s

·    Barnabas over looked the baggies and saw a person in need.

How do you view people?  How do you see people? So many people are prejudiced and doesn’t even realized it or are quick to make a judgment about an individual before they even know them.

Eddie, how can I see the best in others?

·    Walk away from prejudice, or preconceived ideas as in John 1:25-46

·    Believe people can change

·    We need to understand that love is not blind but love see through people.

People do carry baggies in fact you and I have baggagies but it's how you see them that will make a difference!

How do you view people?

Evangelism is seeing people as Jesus saw them as sheep’s without a shepherd!

Will you befriend someone today? Will you carry their baggage?

Love,

Eddie

He isn't Heavy He's My Brother!

He isn’t Heavy He’s My Brother!

Tampa Bay Fox Reports” October 15    the issue, “Volunteers spruce up Tent City,”                                                                            “My

This story takes place in Pinellas County, Florida and the place is called,” Pinellas Hope,” it is a tent city for the homeless.  The article shares how home depot and other stores are helping the homeless in this tent city. What caught my eye in this article was a statement by Shelia Lopez who works for the Catholic charity, ministering to homeless .She said, “We have got to lift their spirits, and so they feel like a person and if you cannot then you are in trouble.”

In Acts11:22-23  “Then tidings came unto the ears of the church which was I in Jerusalem ;and they sent forth Barnabas ,that he should go as far as Antioch, who when he came ,and had seen the grace of God, was glad, and exhorted them all , that with purpose of heart they would cling unto the Lord.”

Today, we all need to be encouragers and first it begins with having a generous spirit! Acts 4:36-37.  The early believer felt a responsibility to each other. They gave willingly, sacrificially with no strings attached.

Dear friends, so many people today are suffering in so many different areas and sometimes a word of remembrance and caring is what they need to pull them through, be an encourager and giver today!

Love,

 Eddie

What the Old Clock Needed

A man owned a clock which he prized very highly, but one day it stopped and he could not get it to go again. In order to make it work he tried different things without success. First he tried heavier weights. This did not help but rather oppressed the machinery. Then he took away the old face and put a new one ,but this made no difference.Still the clock would not go.Then he tried new hands, but this too did not induce the clock to go.The owner's little boy had been an interested spectator of his father effort to make the clock to work.At last the boy said,

"Daddy,I think the poor clock need a new inside." Gospel Herald

Jesus said," You must be born again."John 3:3,7    You have got to have a new inside.

You see dear friends, being religious, belonging to a church,a denomination, being sprinkled, being baptized, teaching and even being a preacher,or being born into a church family, being good and doing good will get you into heaven and have a peace of heart. You must be born again, by repenting of your sins and inviting Jesus into your heart.

Come to Jesus, today!.

Love,
Eddie

Christian??????????????

Christian unto Death ???

Who are we? What are we? Why are we?

This week in Iran a Pastor was guilty and sentence to death, because he refused to reject Christianity.

Acts 11:19-26

What does it mean to be called a Christian?

Here are some pointed questions. Does going to church make you a christian? Having parents who are Christians make you a Christian? What about being sprinkled or baptized as a baby makes you a Christian? What about being born into a church family? What about doing good works and giving to charity does that make you a Christian? Let say, I belong to a denomination, can a government or a denomination declare you a Christian? If, you do not belong to a denomination does that disallow you to be called a Christian? Should families reject their loved ones if they are not belonging to a particular faith?

So who is a Christian? How does one become a Christian?

I believe that a Christian is a child of God by birth. No! Not by a physical birth but by a spiritual birth.

Galatians 3:26 “For you all are the sons of God by faith in Christ Jesus.”

John1:12   “But as many as received him, to them gave the power to become the children of God ,even to them that believe on his name; Who are born ,not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor the will of man, but of God.”

I believe we are a child of God by a spiritual birth.

Have you truly been born again?

Jesus said to Nicodemus, “You must be born again.”

Dear friends, all you have to do is to call upon the name of Jesus! Dear Jesus, come into my heart today. I repent of my sins in Jesus name, amen!

God provision for our needs!

Provision for Our Needs,  watch this video and reah my message

TEXT: Matthew 6:25-34

Dear Friends,

Times are tough. Many, in the nation are unemployed and Florida is around 11% .This week the sheriff department is going to lay off the officers by doing a lottery. Imagine, people lives are a number!

So many people are scared to death! People are asking for answers. I believe the hope we have and words of encouragement will come from the scriptures.

God will provide for us because He has stated in His Word, “ Do not be anxious. Look around you and see God at work, His provision for the birds and the lilies”. I believe, we must develop and exercise faith.

God provided the food for the fowls of the air, and they do not have to do anything. He will provide for you.

God provided for the lilies to be clothed and He will provide for you!
How can we then not be anxious, Eddie? My friends listen, I have the same feelings and emotions. These are hard times but we have to develop our faith in Him, and focus on Him, because He will always come through for us.

So many times, Donna, & our children have met these challenges. I remember a time in Sarasota, Florida when I was on staff at Sarasota Baptist Church. It was Christmas, and the pastor met me in the hallway and said, “Eddie, I am sorry but we have no more money to fund your position.” I said “But its Christmas!” He replied, “I know and I am sorry.”

Wow! Man oh man, what do I do? But I was reminded of these scriptures. In a couple of days I applied for food stamps and soon received them. It wasn’t long that God provided for us and He will for you! Just keep the faith.

My dearest friends, I know times are tough but depend only on God and He will meet your needs!

Let us pray! Dear God, you know what our needs are for today. Thank you in Jesus name for your provision and by faith in you alone. I know you will come through!

I pray In Jesus name, Amen.

Love you!
Eddie
