How to Cope with a Major Crisis!
2 Corinthians 1:3-11
“Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort,”
In an article written by Laura Rozen titled, “Widow accept Afghanistan mission after 9/11 twist of fate.”
“Debra Strickland lost her husband, Sgt.Major Strickland on September 11, 2011. How is she coping with the tragedy?”
Debra said, “You don’t move on. You just adjust your life.”
” I certainly believe we can get the nation back on track, and we can do it fast.”
Debra says, “We need to cooperate. When things are so hopeless and are so desperate for so many people. We need to find common ground.”
God is so good, because he has given us in 2 Corinthians 1:3-11 passages that have tremendous words of encouragement.
In a day where people are losing their jobs, homes, loved ones and their health, God has some key answers to cope with the crisis in their lives. So let us, gleam from these passages words of wisdom.
First, in order to cope with any crisis that comes our way we need to allow God to comfort us.
I am going to let you in a little secret. Eleven years ago, June 2000 my dad passed away to be with Jesus! It was a very, very difficult time. Previously my wife fell at work and developed RSD. She had to leave her work and go on Workman’s Compensation. Immediately her twenty thousand dollar income was gone!
The final shoe dropped! On a Sunday morning in November of that same year a deacon of the church I was serving, in Jacksonville, Florida came up to me and said, “They(the deacons) did not want me to tell you, but I have to because I know what they are going to do is wrong. It is what it is! They are going to ask you to resign your position of pastor of this church tonight! Wow!
I said, “Why? What did I do wrong?”
He replied, “Nothing pastor except you stood up against their sins!”
My heart dropped! I felt so lonely, so empty and I cried! Why God? Why?
A deeper crisis than all the others at that time had just developed beyond my control!
(I will share more in the coming days!)……….
Love,Eddie
